Prevent students from seeing other groups’ submissions
Hi everyone,
I have a group assignment in Brightspace that’s assigned to multiple groups, each with different members. The problem is that members from one group can see submissions from other groups.
How can I make it so that each group can only see their own submissions?

To ensure that members of one group cannot see submissions from other groups, you’ll want to configure the Assignment tool so that it’s properly linked to a Group Category and restricted to each group.
Here’s how you can set this up:
- Create a Group Category (if not already created):
- From the course navbar, go to Groups.
- Under Manage Groups, click New Category and complete the category details.
- Under Restrict Enrollments To, select the relevant group or section.
- Save your changes.
- Create or edit the Assignment:
- When setting up the group assignment, link it to the Group Category created above.
- This ensures that each group only has access to its own submissions.
Note: Sub-groups can only be created once (you cannot create sub-groups of sub-groups).
