D2L erased saved grades

Hi all,

I was recently one of three Teaching Assistants for a course with 160 students. Each of us, along with the main instructor, individually graded and provided feedback for the final written assignment using a Dropbox feature in D2L. While completing the assessments, we were “Saving Draft” instead of immediately publishing.

After all papers were marked, the instructor asked me to publish all the grades and feedback at once. I went to Dropbox → Select all → Publish all feedback. D2L prompted me to confirm the publication, and I clicked "Yes."

However, later that day, I received a call from the instructor saying that the grades were not properly published — all submissions appeared as A+, although the individualized typed comments remained intact. As a result, we had to retract the grades and reassess all submissions based on the original feedback.

Has anyone experienced an issue like this? Any idea what might have caused this glitch? My instructor wondered if I had used the "Set Grade" function in the Gradebook, but I wasn’t even aware of that feature until that day, so I definitely did not touch it.

  • Hi @Anastasiia.G.3611,

Thank you for reaching out to us through the community!!

If you used the "Publish All Feedback" option, it would only publish the submissions without altering the grades you had already entered.
The appearance of an A+ grade for all students after publishing may be due to changes made to the grades themselves.

Could you please confirm whether you checked a few random students to review the rubrics associated with the assignment or their evaluations, to ensure they received the correct scores?

    Thanks,
