Dataset for "Discover" courses?

Is there any dataset for org units that indicates if a course is part of Discover? We'd like to build a custom application to let external users create guest accounts in Brightspace and enroll in Discover courses, but would like to simplify the process by giving guests a list of the available courses to enroll in. This way we can enroll them with a role other than student (that allows them to export the course). If we can get a list of OUs that are in Discover, we can automate the application to includenew OUs.

  • Hello! There is a User Enrollments Data Set (https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/4740-users-data-sets#user-enrollments) that does specify there is "EnrollmentType" field, but further searching seems to indicate this is for the role in which they are enrolled, not how they are enrolled. This would probably be your best resource for further exploration - there may be other ways to meet your needs using our data sets: https://docs.valence.desire2learn.com/index.html#

Yeah, we looked at the API, but having to make calls against all OUs just to find out if they are in Discover seems like a poor use of the tool. Still, it may be what we have to do.

  • Hi Andy,

Yes, unfortunately, there's no dataset for Discover tool at the moment and this might be the only workaround. This has been requested on this PIE item and it is under consideration:

It's advisable to vote on it to voice your opinion.
