A well-designed digital platform is essential for engaging audiences and ensuring a seamless user experience. One way Learning Services helps clients achieve this is through the use of HTML Templates. However, we know that not every project has the resources for a fully custom HTML design. That’s why we’ve created the HTML Template Library—a collection of professionally pre-designed & pre-built templates tailored to meet the needs of our clients in higher education, corporate organizations, associations, and not-for-profits

These templates offer a faster, more cost-effective solution without sacrificing quality, making it easy to personalize your Brightspace environment and enhance the content experience. Whether you need a polished, branded look for your institution or a professional design for your organization, our templates provide a streamlined way to elevate your online presence and engage your users.

Our HTML Template Library Engagement Includes:

  • A variety of HTML Template design options to choose from.
  • Access to a wide range of both static and dynamic components. (accordions, callouts, flip cards, etc.)
  • Set of course page layouts (module introduction page, video lecture page, conclusion page + more)
  • A dedicated walkthrough session with a Courseware Developer, ensuring your team gains the skills and confidence to effectively use the template.
  • Documentation to support maintenance.

Hi Kourtnie. I use custom HTML and CSS to personalise my designs which you can access through the Source Code tab (image below). Which is completely free to do. For example, I give my images a polaroid effect, have the template automatically provide my University's colour scheme, and create a mini arrow animation at the bottom of my pages. These things aren't complicated to do, but take a bit of time to learn the code and to get right.

    Source Code option:

To add a template to the "Browse for a Template" menu, you have to upload the template (the html file) to any folder in your files:

and navigate to it via "Browse for a Template":

  • Hi Kourtnie - thanks for your questions! Our templates are a paid service (not included in the core platform offering). If you would like to learn more about accessing our templates and having them added to your instance, I encourage you to contact your customer success rep or client sales executive.

And to go along with Patrick's explanation; here is a post you might find useful when setting up templates: https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/4342-set-up-templates
