Opening the D2L ZIP Archive File on a Local PC

I've been using D2L over the past 8 years at two universities where I taught and I'm now entering retirement. My former students regularly ask me for content from my classes, but I cannot launch my Brightspace ZIP archive of the course on my PC. Does D2L or any of its partners offer a place where I can open the file and interact with it as though it's a live version of Brightspace (I'm willing to pay a fee if necessary)? I'm not looking for students to have access.

I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong area but I'm not sure where it goes.

Thank you!
Jim

    Hi James,

A couple of options/suggestions for you.

The Brightspace zip course archive can be opened using a PC/MAC. This will give you access to course files used in your course offerings. Right click on the zip and Extract all in Windows, files and folders should be visible to you in the relevant folder.

If feasible, contact your prior university to see if they can provide you access to a course offering into which you can import the course package.

Contact the D2L Support team to see if they have any options for you. Failing to get access to a Brightspace environment note a Brightspace course package can be imported into another LMS such as Moodle etc.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Chris! I'm familar with unzipping files but didn't think I could see the contents of everything. I really like the idea of using Moodle because it's free. I'll search to see if there are videos on how to import a Brightspace ZIP file into Moodle.

    Thanks!
