Manage Files - should I use it even or just use the front end content manager

This is a common discussion among peers whether to use manage files or not. Or just the front end, content area to upload/create files.

I feel like manage files is more like a backend space for all the files, and it doesn't really concern a user like myself who is building a course in the front end.

Am I right or should I be organizing files in manage files as well? I feel this would be really time consuming.

  • Hello Moaz,

Thank you for your question. The Manage Files tool is a file management system for your course. You can use this tool to organize and upload files associated with your course offering. We recommend that you organize your files into folders, creating a folder for each module of content.

Manage Files enables you to select and upload files from your computer to Brightspace. You can upload most file types to a content directory in Manage Files, but only files with specific extensions can be used as content topics.

    Hi Tauany,

Thanks for getting back to me on this!

What if I just use the front end and create my files without ever using the manage files area? Will there be any negative consequences from that?
