Is there a way I can limit a student from downloading a submitted file into an assignment?

Right now a student can submit an exam or test that was done in a restricted (classroom) environment and they can leave the room and can later download the submitted assignment before I have a chance to hide the folder from users.

    Hi @Richard.D.158

Thanks for reaching out to the Brightspace Community.

If I understand correctly, your students are supposed to work on a file in class and turn it into the Assignments tool on Brightspace.

If that is the case, it is not possible to prevent students from coming back to the Assignments tool and downloading their submissions until you hide the folder from them.

As a workaround, I suggest you create a Quiz, add a Written Response question, and set it up so students can upload a file.

    > Setting up a Quiz with a Written Response that allows learners to insert images and add attachments

    • Go to the Quizzes tool
    • Click 'New Quiz'
    • Go to 'Create New' > New Question
    • Select 'Written Response'.
    • Check off 'Allow learners to insert images and add attachments' (see image below)
    • Save

    > Next, you must ensure your Quiz is set up to not auto-publish attempt results immediately upon completion:

    • On the Quiz editing page, on the right panel, under Evaluation and Feedback:
    • Uncheck 'Auto-publish attempt results immediately upon completion' - this is an essential step as this option is checked off by default:
    • Save and close.

I hope this can address your desired workflow.
