Is there a set D2L home page or best practices to set up home pages with the New Content Experience?

    Hi @Ellen.Whybrow9239

Thank you for reaching out to the Brightspace Community with your question.

The Course Homepage is designed to be customized by each client based on their individual workflows. This does not change, based on the New Content experience.

There are no set best practices for how to set up the homepage, as it depends on individual preference. Any element you wish to include on the homepage will work fine with the New Content Experience.

Our content experts provide the following options, which are dependent on your organizations specific workflows and how you wish for your learners to navigate through Brightspace to the Content tool.

    1. If you wish for your users to navigate directly to the Content tool, you can change the type of homepage to 'Tool' using the dropdown on the edit homepage. If the tool selected is 'Content' then users will launch directly into the content tool upon accessing the course. This works with any content experience.
    2. If you wish to keep a widget-based homepage there are a few widgets to consider:
    • The New Content Experience is integrated with Activity Feed. This would allow instructors to make a post to Activity Feed with details on a particular content topic (which then also includes a link to that topic). They can make this post directly from the content topic.
      • Any Content related widgets work with all content experiences. This includes the standard 'Content Browser' widget, but also includes the content widgets available through the Homepage Widget Expansion Pack.

The short answer is, it's up to you! Hope this was helpful😀

Thanks for your response. I have configured the home page to land on the Content tool but am unable to get the same effect as what I see in the Learning Center course on the new experience. Is this controlled by a config variable? Ideally, I would like the first landing page for the learners to look like what you see below (Screenshot from the D2L Learning Centre course)

@Ellen.Whybrow9239 Hi Ellen, do you have a screenshot of what your learners currently see when they login?

This is what the learners see. This would be fine except students do not see what they have previously visited with this interface:

@Ellen.Whybrow9239 Looks like your institution has the New Content Experience (also called Lessons) turned on, but not the Learner Experience within it. There is a config variable to enable it: d2l.Tools.Content.NewLearnerExperience
