Table of Contents Dropdown Option
We are interested in using completion tracking and want to mark units as "required" or "not required." I have watched the video for "Check completion tracking for a content topic" but our "Content" view does not look like the video. Can you tell me how to update our view so we have access to the Table of Contents and the ability to change completion tracking?

@Kathy.Woodson2369 It looks like you may be on a description area for a folder rather than a Content item like an HTML document added using Create New. Only Content items can be set to Optional or Required.

Hey @Kathy.Woodson2369,
Thanks for reaching out to us here at the Brightspace Community. It is likely that you currently have the New Context Experience turned on
The New Content Experience does not yet offer Visual completion tracking. Students will not see visual tracking (checkmarks) for items visited in the content modules. However, student can access their completion tracking in the Class Progress tool.
To Opt-Out of the New Content Experience:
- On the "Content" page in your course, select the down arrow (pictured below) in the upper right corner.
- Select "Turn it off" then select "Done".
I hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply, but I need to know how we as Administrators and Instructors can mark units as required or optional. According to the new Release notes from January 2023, we should have this option but I'm not seeing it.
See below:
With this release, instructors using the New Content Experience (Lessons) can set a Content topic as Optional or Required. Previously, instructors were required to switch temporarily to the Classic Content experience to change a topic to Optional or Required.
How do we do this?

Hello @Kathy.Woodson2369,
In the New Content Experience (Lessons), when you click on any topics, select the three dots and scroll down at the bottom, there is now an option 'Set as optional', which you can select. I am attaching an article that has more information here.
I hope this helps!
Kind Regards,
Rusha

Thanks but we only have 4 options in that More menu (screenshot below) - is this something we need to add?
