A decision in every course’s design is: What version of Content should I use?

Brightspace offers multiple different content experiences (classic content, new content, and new learner view), but how do you decide what’s best for you, your course, and your learners? It’s not always an easy decision, so two D2L IDs put their heads together to help you decide which experience best meets your needs in their article [Archived Content] Classic Content vs. New Content in Brightspace: Which One Is Right for You?

In their article, I particularly like the two tables they include to compare the different experiences; one table highlights the differences in navigation, and the other compares the module structures and overall designs. They follow these with a detailed breakdown of features that are unique to each experience, making it a lot easier to think about what my course needs are, which Brightspace tools I’ll be using, and then choose the best content experience for those needs.

The authors indicate that the decision is ultimately up to you, based on preference and needs, but they make an overall observation as a starting place. They indicate that K12 and Corporate users tend to prefer New Content with New Learner View because it’s cleaner and simpler. In Higher ed., they find Classic Content is still preferred because it is more familiar, and it has more functionality with content restriction and release options.

Check out their full article for a complete breakdown of each content experience. Also, respond to the poll below to share what version of Content you use most often.
