3 months later - your progress with IPSIS?

There was a very informative session at Fusion about IPSIS where it was clear that many schools were patiently waiting to learn more before moving forward with IPSIS. We're a Banner Real-Time users (which is end of support in May 2019) and had a few concerns so I thought I'd list them and see if anyone else had made any progress in these areas.
- IPSIS created a duplicate org structure (a second copy of every college, department, template, etc. with new offerings listed in those). Does anyone know if this has been addressed (other than manually modifying the org units)?
- ILP - there's a significant increase in cost going from the Banner eLearning module to ILP. Has anyone decided to move forward with ILP? Have you gone with API calls instead?
- If you did go the ILP route with Ellucian, did you select point-to-point transactions or move forward with the Ethos, uh, platform?
- How's the logging? Useful?

Hi Andy,
@Chris Stucker and I have worked with several clients on migrating from Banner to ILP, below are our findings:
- We've seen some organizations where only the course section and course offering codes change between eLearning and ILP; however, we have recently been involved with a client that had their Departments and Course Template codes change too. Considering that we know the course section and offering codes will change, we recommend migrating new terms only; this means that an institution should not pre-provision their terms if they are preparing to migrate to ILP eliminating any duplication. If the Department and Course Templates have different codes, manual intervention will be required to update the codes prior to provisioning otherwise duplicates will occur. Ellucian also has some great documentation outlining the mappings between Banner and ILP, this is available on the Ellucian eCommunities site.
- From D2L's side, a migration project is required to assist with the migration. Please contact your CSM for more information.
- We would recommend speaking with your Ellucian ILP rep for more information on this.
- YES! The IPSIS Admin has a few different UI's to provide an overview of the changes in Brightspace. We've worked hard to update these messages to ensure they are easy to understand and have received great feedback from both IPSIS Admins as well as D2L'ers!
- Log Messages: Filters for Entity Type, Date Range, Ordering, and Error Type make it easier to locate information and see it organized in a more accessible format. High priority error messages display prominently, errors are grouped by type, and technical details are available for each error. Quick links allow you to easily access Users and Org Units.
- Audit Log: Filters for Entity Type, Date Range, Ordering, and Error Type make it easier to locate information and see it organized in a more accessible format. Only shows changes that were made by IPSIS. Quick links allow you to easily access Users and Org Units.
- Org Units: Provides a list of all Org Units created only by IPSIS.
Hope this helps!
Thank you
Chris and Sheena
