Re: Deactivating users
Hi Kate!
Thanks for reaching out with a great question. Yes, you are correct. When you deactivate a user their access to the orgunit in Brightspace is removed and all notifications are blocked.
Cheers,
Owen
Re: How to Dynamically Pull the UserID of the Logged-In User
The simplest way to get that would be to include the {UserId} replacement string in the HTML of the widget. You could store it in a JS/Python/etc. variable, and then you should be able to reference it in your Python script. Normally the replacement strings may be used to personalize a message like an Announcement to show a user's name, but for fields like {UserId}, {OrgUnitId}, etc. are more useful for scenarios like this. You could technically pull it via other methods, but this is the simplest way to grab it dynamically based on the user that's accessing the page.
Hope that helps!

Re: Very basic course offering/section question
Johnny - this is so helpful, thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to write this up.
Re: Options for sections
Hello Sascha,
Thank you for contacting us via Brightspace Community!
It is certainly possible to have a course that can be re-used per year/period. If you would like to re-use a course, you can always unenroll the students no longer taking that course and enroll new students in to the course. Creating a section per year wouldn't be necessary.
If the instructors teaches multiple sections of the same class in a particular period (e.g 20 students in Section A and 25 students in Section B of the same course), then you can certainly create sections for Section A and B. When the period is over, you can unenroll the students from the course and sections and re-enroll the new students for the upcoming periods.
For more information on sections, I would highly recommend reading our documentation on Sections:
and the Considerations when setting up Sections: https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/3340-about-groups-and-sections#considerations-when-setting-up-sections.
I hope this information helps.
Best regards,
Abrar
Re: Is it possible to set the active navbar through an API call?
Can I tag on a request to be able to identify which navbar and homepage a given course has from the datasets?
Re: Due date for graded Discussion topic?
Thank you, Heba!
I suspected this wold be the subject of an already submitted feature enhancement.
One of the workarounds I recommended to the Instructor was to apply a due date to the unit where the link to the graded discussion was placed. I think we can still work with this in its current form.
Thank you for your time!
