Re: Keyboard shortcuts when creating presentations using Capture Web in Creator +
Hey @Peggy.R.1517,
Thank you for reaching out in the Brightspace Community.
In this case, you may find this community article helpful for the workflow you are trying to achieve:
https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/17895-create-a-presentation-with-capture-web
You could drag the new tab with the Learner view to another window and on step 7 you could select to share the the Browser Tab or Window that includes the Learner view instead of sharing the Entire Screen.
For example:
Tab 1 with My Media page
Tab 2 with the Learner View on a different window
On Tab 1:
Select "Create Recording"
Click on "Share Screen"
Select the Browser tab (example Chrome Tab) and choose the Learner tab from the list which is in an new window.
Click Share
Select "Start Recording"
Go to Tab 2 with the Learner view and Navigate as you need
Go to Tab 1 and click "Pause Recording"
Then Click "Finish Recording "
Save and Close
Results: The video will only include the Tab 2 recording.
Please keep us posted if this resource was helpful to complete your intended workflow.
Kind regards,
Best,
Ana
Re: I can't get my Visual TOC Banners to show the correct images
Hi Dane,
I hope your year is off to a great start! Thank you for reaching out about the issue with images not displaying correctly in the Visual Table of Contents when using Firefox. This is caused by a browser setting in Firefox rather than anything within Brightspace. Specifically, Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) feature blocks certain content.
Here’s how you can resolve this:
- Open Firefox and navigate to your Brightspace environment.
- Click on the shield icon located in the address bar (to the left of the website URL).
- In the pop-up that appears, toggle the switch to turn off Enhanced Tracking Protection for this site.
- Refresh the page—this should fix the issue, and the images should display correctly.
Please note that this change will need to be made on each device where Firefox is being used to access Brightspace. Enhanced Tracking Protection is a privacy feature designed to block trackers and safeguard your browsing. Turning it off for Brightspace will only apply to this site and won’t affect your overall security.
If you have any questions or run into further issues, feel free to let me know—I’m happy to help!😊
Warm regards,
Isidora
Re: How to reorder gradebook items
Yes, it is possible to rearrange the grade book of your course as you wish.
To move items in the same category, follow the steps below:
In your Gradebook,
- Click Manage grades
- Then go to "More Actions"
- Select Reorder
You will then be able to reorder grade items under the same grade category.
But if I understand correctly, you also have items under different categories that you wish to move around. If that's the case, you will first have to reassign the desired grade items to different categories or even delete categories.
The quickest way to do through the following steps:
- Go to "Manage Grades"
- Click on "Bulk Edit"
- Then you will be prompted to make the desired changes.
- Don't forget to save
To delete undesired Grade Categories/Items, you can simply select them, go to "More Actions," and hit "Delete."
Please let me know if this is useful.
Re: Why did the descriptions of my Blackboard web links disappear during export/import to Brightspace?
Hi @Peggy.R.1517 .
There is no option to add a description/instructions when creating "Web Link" content items.
Please check the link below for more options regarding creating content items:

Re: About GET & POST of dropbox feedback
Hello @Dennis.D.1339,
Thank you for reaching out to us via Community!
I’ve looked into the API call and discovered that for Rubric Assessments, you will need to include the following structure under "RubricAssessments", as outlined in the article here:
{ "RubricId": <number:D2LID>, "OverallScore": <number:decimal>|null, "OverallFeedback": { <composite:RichText> }, "OverallLevel": { // Note that the OverallLevel property may be null "LevelId": <number:D2LID>, "Feedback": { <composite:RichText> } }, "OverallScoreOverridden": <boolean>, "OverallFeedbackOverridden": <boolean>, "CriteriaOutcome": [ // Array of CriterionOutcome blocks { "CriterionId": <number:D2LID>, "LevelId": <number:D2LID>|null, "Score": <number:decimal>|null, "ScoreIsOverridden": <boolean>, "Feedback": { <composite:RichText> }, "FeedbackIsOverridden": <boolean> }, { <composite:CriterionOutcome> }, ... ]}
This structure will ensure that your API request is properly formatted.
I hope this helps!
Thanks,
Rusha
Re: How do I enable new content experience
Hi Peter,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your inquiry!
You can turn on the New Content Experience using the config variable d2l.Tools.Content.UseLessonsExperience :
Determines the user experience for content management in a specific org unit. If the value is ON, Lessons is used; otherwise, Content Tool is used. This determines the experience for both, instructors and students. For the configuration to take effect, d2l.Tools.Content.IsLessonsEnabled must be ON.
The following video highlights the steps to enable the new content experience:
Please let us know if you have any follow-up questions.
Kind Regards,

Re: Can't use questions from library that had been used?
Yes, you can absolutely re-use the questions! To reuse questions from the Question Library in multiple quizzes within the same course, follow these steps: . This process creates a duplicate version of the questions in your quiz, while the original questions remain in the Question Library.
I am connecting you to these documentations that I hope would be helpful:
Hope this helps!

Re: Very basic course offering/section question
When using IPSIS, all Course Offerings should have a Section associated with it. The purpose to doing so is to separate out the course (as created from your Student Information System (SIS)) from the enrollments. Now that might seem counterintuitive, "Why not just put all the enrollments into the Course Offering directly?" Merging/crosslisting courses is exactly why. There's some images on the Crosslisting Management Interface page that helps illustrate what happens when you crosslist courses together and how the Sections matter.
Within a Course Offering in Brightspace, there is obviously so much more you can do than just house enrollments. Adding in Sections allows us to more easily move enrollments around below the courses. Also then when you crosslist courses together, then the Course Offering will give you filtering options when in tools like Classlist, Grades, etc. to show which students/learners belong to which Section. There's some additional data privacy benefits to using Sections as well, for example, an Instructor could have access to see all students across all Sections that are crosslisted in 1 Course Offering, but the students would only see those who are in the same Section in tools like Classlist, Discussions, etc. Additionally, Sections can act as a group-like tool that you can then make release conditions and others based upon, so if you wanted to create an Announcement, but only have it for the students of a particular Section, you then have a way to identify them easily within the Course Offering.
Hopefully all that background is helpful.
Now onto your note regarding the duplicate Sections. This is perfectly normal. As is illustrated in the Crosslisting Management Interface page, each Course Offering would have a Section. Sections themselves aren't that easily moved around, so instead a duplicate Section will be created that will be a child org unit of the new Course Offering. The original Section then remains just in case you ever want to un-crosslist the courses together, so the enrollments would flow back into the original Section and the duplicate would then be deleted.
Hope that helps!

Re: Code highlighting and randomized answers when importing questions into Question Library via CSV?
@Peter.A.8126 If you have a lot of questions and don't mind exporting and re-importing them, there is a workaround to bulk randomize the answer choices.
