Re: Why is the button to turn in an assignment named differently depending on how you get to it?
Hi @Lisa.C.417,
Thank you for your question.
The difference in button labels “Upload” and “Add a File” is simply a wording variation within the Brightspace interface and does not reflect any functional difference.
Unfortunately, there is currently no setting available to standardize or change these labels.
The best workaround is to clarify instructions for students by referencing both terms where applicable. If you would like to see a consistent label across all areas, you may wish to submit a PIE (Product Idea Exchange) item or upvoting an existing one that matches your use case. This will ensure our development team is aware of your request and can consider it for future releases.
I hope this helps.
Best regards,
Rachna
Re: Welcome to Creator +
Thank you for your detailed feedback @Jane.O.1385! It's encouraging to see that this course is getting attention and your comments help improve it for all users!
I have fixed most of the issues you identified. The "funky text" may need a little more investigation, as its a styling issue on mobile. The display issues on Vertical Tabs may not be fixable at this time, but I can pass the feedback along to our developers.
Feel free to send along any other comments!

Re: Help with PUT to Quiz API – 400 JSON Binding Error
Hello,
Firstly, using the exact formatting from your GET will not work in many cases like this. It's pretty important that you always look back to the documentation provided online by D2L for what a PUT or POST requires. Here's a direct link to the documentation for updating or creating a new Quiz:
In particular it sounds like you are not formatting the various composite:RichTextInput values.
Whenever you see a { composite:RichTextInput } field in a JSON example, that stands in for a composite block like this:
{
"Content": <string>,
"Type": "Text|Html"
}
You will need to use this formatting for Instructions > Text, Description > Text, Header > Text, and Footer > Text.
Hope this helps!

Re: assignment submission notifications
Re: D2L is Reheating PIE!
I wonder if the "gatekeeping" of D2L Support to only allow a handful of approved individuals (ASCs) in each institution to contact them is part of the reason why bugs and feature requests end up in PIE?
Our ASCs are busy people, having them be the go-between on a simple bug report (with the implied expectation that they will need to spend time understanding the issue and testing it) might be a reason why people take the apparent shortcut?

Re: D2L is Reheating PIE!
@Tommy.O.141 I have to say I disagree with the use of the PIE solely as a repository for "pie in the sky" ideas. Maybe if there were fewer persistent bugs/limitations/UX issues on the current platform, I would be more amenable to the idea. But as it stands, I think there is a lot of work that needs to be done on known (and long standing) issues before pursuing pie in the sky.

Re: Classic View in the Quizzes
Thats a shame. The new interface is more difficult to navigate, takes longer to scroll through, and when the grades are "updated" the responses still state "auto-graded" instead of being changed to "graded by…" unless we have actually changed the grade. Therefore, unless we physically change a grade, there is no way for instructors to know if they have reviewed the exam already or not when exam review is necessary. There is not one single improvement from this new interface, and it actually makes things less user friendly and more time consuming to navigate.
I'm curious why this was changed and also if instructors are ever asked their opinion prior to making changes. Because I have never been asked my opinion as an instructor, and every new change or update seems to make things worse, like removing the "Chat" feature, which was the only way to hold online office hours through D2L. Now holding online office hours through D2L is basically non-existent.
Release conditions and formula grades
Hi everyone, wondering if you can help... I'm setting up a course which has multiple formula grades. Is it possible to use the formula grade as a release condition? I can't seem to use the condition 'Grade Value on a Grade Item' as it doesn't show me the option of the formula grade.
In the past I have used a formula in 'Final Calculated Grade' and used that as a release condition, but on this course, there are multiple calculated grades and I'm unsure how to proceed.
Any ideas gratefully accepted? 🤨

Release Condition based on Calculated Grade Item
I'm trying to set a release condition so that the next unit would open when the average score on the previous unit is a certain percentage. I don't see a way to do this? I have created a calculated grade item for the unit, and have release conditions on each assignment so they must complete each to move on. I know I would need to have the release condition be that they have completed the last grade item,as the calculated average is running and would show even if not all the work was complete, AND the calculated average is X%. I don't see a way to do the latter? Is it possible? Thanks!

Bulk uploading Certifications
I have a lot of certifications for about 1000 students. These certifications were earned through another organization. Is there any way to bulk upload certificates into DropBox to attach the certificates to the learner's profile in a course?
