Just In Time Provisioning Adjustments

Currently, when Just In Time Provisioning is leveraged, the only data that comes through is a first name, last name, and email address. When Entra AD is leveraged it is possible to bring additional attributes from Entra (i.e. Manager, Department, etc) which could be directly mapped to fields within BrightSpace.

We are currently developing an interface to facilitate these extra pieces of data (aside from doing bulk imports manually) but it would be really nice if this could just be fixed on your end.

This is a current limitation of Just In Time Provisioning (JIT). JIT/SAML provisioning maps only core identity fields (name, username, email, role) and does not extend to custom Entra ID claims such as Manager or Department. To keep those attributes current, a separate integration path is needed, whether through Bulk Attribute Upload, an IPSIS SFTP feed, or a custom API solution.

We strongly encourage submitting request on the Brightspace Community Idea Site: Submissions (brightidea.com) (PIE) so it can be tracked for future consideration.
