Hello!
Found my way here.
I apologise if I am a bit of an interloper. I realised during the webinar yesterday that you all know each other (I think). Just a bit of context. I am based in the UK and we are currently in pilot with D2L. This is being carried out by our Learning Technologists. I am in post here to support assistive technologies and accessibility across the University, which I have been doing for 1 year. When we went to tender last year for a new VLE, I advised on accessibility. I was pleased when D2L was chosen for our pilot. We are now working towards full roll-out next year.
A couple of questions about this area, which I think is a great idea. Why keep it as a closed group? Given that it is already within the Brightspace community, it would be great if people could just find it, as any Brightspace user may have accessibility questions and could pop in an ask? I did some work with Yammer a few years ago, and they actively discouraged closed groups, because they said that people will only join things they are interested in, but also it does allow people to expand their horizons by being able to sample different groups. Is there a reason why this would be a closed group?
Second, as I mentioned before I dashed off yesterday, it would be great if we can upload files. I am developing some resources here - and thanks to those who have shared with me- but it would be great if we could have a file repository.
Here's one for me to share with you. This is about PowerPoint accessibility. (Do tell me if I have got it wrong in some way!)

Looking forward to working with you all,

Hi there. No, you are not an interloper. We like new faces. The only reason we didn’t want it open to any old person, including competitors, is because things like future designs and other somewhat confidential things sometimes get batted around. But we do want it to be as open as possible. We just wanted to know who was joining and finding the files that go there, if that makes any sense at all. I’ll have to look at where attachments go like Kathy sent yesterday. We’ll have to figure out the best possible way for this to work. Thanks again for helping us play around with this new setup. Carin
