Behind D2L Adventure Canada
The Canadian D2L Adventure Digital Resources are comprehensive resources aligned to the Ontario Curriculum and are created by a group of certified teachers. These resources are built to respond to individual learner needs, with the goal of reaching all learners by giving them the tools they need to be successful in math, language, science, social studies, history, and geography, health and physical education, and French. 👨🏫
The Canadian catalogue includes 45 curriculum-aligned resources:
- Math Grades 1–8 📊
- De-streamed Math Grade 9 📉
- Language Grades 1–8 📚️
- Science and Technology Grades 1–8 🌒
- Social Studies Grades 1–6, History and Geography 7–8 🌎️
- Core French Grades 4–8 🥐

The pedagogical approach for the digital resources is based on student-centred learning, which is achieved by designing our program using the six imperatives:
- build a strong understanding of fundamental skills,
- bridge the gap between understanding and doing,
- foster a Positive Growth Mindset,
- develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills,
- cultivate a mindfulness of math, science, and language in everyday life, and
- encourage communication.
The D2L Adventure Digital Resources were designed to set students up for success; in doing this, we decided to provide short activities to test the fundamental skills for a subject, these are called “Skill Drills,” as well as activate prior knowledge on a skill, these are called “Warm-Ups.” 💡
The resources were also designed using a backward design approach, which consisted of creating the scope and sequences, writing the learning goals and success criteria, planning and writing the assessments and evaluations, completing high-level planning of the content, and then writing and developing the content. 📝
