I hope everyone is well and surviving in this new normal. This month, we are lucky to have Allison Fitzgibbon coming to talk to us. Allison Fitzgibbon, M.Ed., is a faculty member at Sheridan College and coordinates the Educational Support Program, in the School of Education. Allison is also a recent graduate of the Accessible Media Production program at Mohawk College, where she gained valuable skills in the design of inclusive products and services. As an accessibility advocate, Allison has been offering webinars to teach faculty how to apply accessibility standards to the development of their own courses. Her topic is "Inclusive Design in an Online Learning Environment". When designing an inclusive course for online delivery, faculty should consider the intersection of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, UDL, and Differentiated Instruction. I will demonstrate how to use D2L to embrace inclusive design and to further enhance the student experience. A course template will be shared with participants so that they may begin creating accessible content for their own courses. Hope to see you there.
