HI everyone - thanks to those who attended Tips & Tricks Ep 17: Reworking your Course. Recording is in the files area of this group (must be logged in to see), but key points are summarised below:

  1. First thing is to create logical groupings of content: the word week may not help students figure out where they need to navigate to. Use subject names and numbers to help them locate the content they need.
  2. Clear navigation & signposting: include learning objectives at the beginning of each unit/sub unit so students know what they are meant to be able to do by the end of it. If you're uploading lots of content, why not embed that as a quick link in a file so you can give learners some context around it i.e. read this and think about these 3 things whilst you do.
  3. Create activities to help activate that knowledge: weave these into the context of the content. Try adding in little packaged workflows like: lecture video (recorded), then some reading, discussion questions for the reading so the learner does some independent learning, then a survey so students can indicate to the instructor what concepts they struggled with/found most interesting, and then a virtual/face to face session.

If you enjoyed the session and want more like it, let me know in the comments area below, or just suggest a topic/theme you want instead!
