With the introduction of the new Engagement Dashboard and some of the great additional updates to it since its launch, we would like to introduce to you the New Learner Engagement Dashboard. As an extension of the Engagement Dashboard, the new Learner Engagement Dashboard provides you with the ability to search for specific learners you are interested in.
How does it work?
Located within the Insights portal, the Learner Engagement Dashboard will allow advisors to pull up a specific learner that they have in mind and immediately jump to the metrics of that particular learner. This will reduce the distance and workflow needed to pull up those metrics, especially if you already know who the learner is that you’re particularly concerned about.
Through the search function you can quickly and effectively find learners by first name, last name and user id. Those using auditor relationships are also able to search for learners by username.

Once you have found the specific learner you are looking for, clicking on the learner will take you to a summary view and provide you with an understanding of their:
- Courses in View,
- Average Grade,
- Overdue Assignments,
- System Access,
- Grades Over Time,
- Content View Over Time,
- and Course Access Over Time.

The bottom of the page will contain dynamic tables listing the Active Courses and Inactive Courses that meet the criteria specified by the filters and include course characteristics like Current Grade, Predicted Grade (if Student Success System is enabled), Time in Content, Discussion Activity, and Course Last Access for each course.

What is the difference between the Engagement Dashboard and Learner Engagement Dashboard?
The Engagement Dashboard and Learner Engagement Dashboard share the same premise: to enable advisors and other roles to improve learner success through engagement data from these dashboards. Here is a comparison of the two dashboards:
Engagement Dashboard
Focus: On learner engagement
Type of data presented: Multi-learner cross-course
Use cases:
- Use visualizations and filtering to identify non-engaged or at-risk learners
- Uncover cross-course engagement trends
Learner Engagement Dashboard
Focus: On learner engagement
Type of data presented: Learner specific
Use cases:
- Search for a specific learner
- Pull up learner profile prior to meeting with learner
How do I get access to it?
The Learner Engagement Dashboard shares the same setup and configurations as the Engagement Dashboard in Brightspace Insights. After Brightspace Insights is enabled, administrators can grant Brightspace Insights roles and permissions to users for the Engagement Dashboard which will provide them with access to the Learner Engagement Dashboard.
For specific details, please visit Administering Brightspace Insights.
Note: Brightspace Insights is a part of the Performance+ Package.
