Error: "xx users were not synchronized because they are assigned an unsupported role"
Steps to Reproduce
- Access Virtual Classroom with a role that can create Virtual Classroom sessions
- Create a new Virtual Classroom session
- Give the session a title
- Check the Now checkbox
- Uncheck the option to Invite entire class
- Save the meeting
- Click the Actions icon next to the new meeting
- Click Manage Invites
- Click Sync Roster
Steps to Resolve this error
- Create a list of all Roles in your Brightspace instance, including cascading roles
- Avoid listing the roles "Student", "Instructor", and "Administrator" (These are standard roles in Brightspace, and Bongo already has a proper mapping for these)
- Next to each Brightspace role, indicate if the role should be recognized by Bongo as Educator or Student
- Educator would be any role you expect may need to create a Virtual Classroom session
- Student would apply to all other roles, regardless if they may access Virtual Classroom or not
- Create a Support case with D2L Support, requesting Custom Role Mapping, and provide the list you created
- Bongo will perform the role mapping on their side
- Once completed, the error message should disappear
Note: this process may need to be followed periodically as new Roles are created in your Brightspace instance
