Here’s the info for May’s AIG meeting. I've also attached a calendar invite. Since people were asking about Accessible STEM, I hope you enjoy this one.
Session time: Thursday, May 1, 2025, 11 am to 12 pm ET
Session title:
Alchemie’s Accessible-by-design learning tools for STEM
Speakers:
The team at Alchemie, Julia Winter, CEO, and Dr. Sarah Wegwerth, Director of Academics, will present a suite of learning tools for chemistry that have been designed to be directly accessible for all students, including screen reader users. Alchemie has been developing these tools with support from the US National Science Foundation. The tools will be in the market in partnership with Wiley this year in their market-leading Klein organic chemistry textbook.
Session Summary: In this session, Julia will tell the story of how this Michigan-based company became a leader in developing innovative STEM tools and why accessibility is a core value of the company. Sarah will demonstrate the suite of tools for both general and organic chemistry. The accessibility features of the tools include a unique form-based keyboard accessible control panel and dynamic alt text generation, to build an inclusive learning experience for all learners.
Hope to see you there.
