Session Summary: This session serves both faculty new to digital accessibility and professional development trainers seeking an efficient accessibility training program. This session introduces the practical SCULPT model (created by Helen Wilson at Worcestershire County Council in the UK) for Brightspace:
- Structure: Creating navigable headings and lists
- Color contrast: Meeting WCAG standards for color contrast
- Use of images: Implementing effective alt text
- Links: Crafting descriptive hyperlinks and quicklinks
- Plain Language: Enhancing readability
- Tables: Designing accessible data structures

Speaker Bio
Charity Davenport (MS in TESOL; MS in Instructional Technology) is an Instructional Technology Specialist for accessibility at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was recently awarded Pellissippi's Staff Excellence award. In her role at Pellissippi, she supports and trains faculty on how to make course content accessible and other technology tool training. Before coming to PSCC, she was an ESL instructor for 13 years at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is the author of an OER textbook for advanced ESL students called “It’s All Greek to Me!” Her areas of interest are open educational resources, open pedagogy, accessibility, Universal Design for Learning, generative AI, online course design, and online teaching and learning best practices.
