Any plans for "Overview" in New Content Experience?

In the July 2025 release the "Overview" from Classic was made visible in New Content Experience (NCE) as part of Enchanced TOC, if this was turned on and if it has previously been setup in Classic for the course.

We are considering switching ON the Enhanced TOC. We have never used Classic and so for now the visibility of Overview is not an issue.

But in the July 2025 notes it says:

The course Overview cannot currently be added directly from the New Content Experience.

Does "currently" indicate that "overview" will be coming to NCE at some point? If yes, then we hope that it will be controlled by a separat variable or organization tool ON/OFF, so that it will not be forced on in systems where the Enhanced TOC has already been switched on. We do not want to use Overview and need to be able to continue that way.

Adding more certificate templates

A simple suggestion is having more certificate templates to choose from, like the many badge icons that Brightspace makes available. Having a dozen or so templates with different backgrounds, formatting and visual appeal would help setting up templates quicker. Using Adobe Pro is a bit cumbersome and tricky to set up the template so it meshes with the interface in awards.

Assignments with “conditions”

It would be very helpful is students could still SEE assignments that have conditions attached that they haven’t met. As it is, students who haven’t met the conditions don’t even know the assignment exists (unless I’m doing something wrong).

Class progress

Limitation:

Data cannot be exported to Excel or sorted by percentage completed.

Suggestion:

Include a feature to sort by % completed and export the data to Excel for easier tracking and analysis.

Retain submission list page position when returning from individual grading view

When grading assignments with multiple pages of student submissions, clicking into an individual student's submission and then navigating back returns the instructor to page 1 instead of the original page they were on.

Current behavior: Instructor is on page 5 of submissions →opens a student's submission → clicks back → lands on page 1.

Expected behavior: Instructor should return to page 5 (the same page they came from).

This significantly disrupts grading workflow, especially for large classes with many submissions. Please consider preserving pagination state when navigating between the submission list and individual grading views.

Progress Bar for Video Note

The new progress bar for uploading media items is great. It would be even better if it was extended to the Video Note tool, for both web cam and video uploads. For larger videos, I never know if it's still going, or has hung up. thanks!

Streamlining Feedback Entry and Gradebook View

We are using rubric-based feedback, and I am looking for ways to reduce the number of clicks. I am hoping that the following is either already available (and I just haven't found it yet), or that these might be put on the list to be added for ease of use. Right now, this process is unnecessarily burdensome.

- Filter the gradebook mastery view by section. Right now, it seems like this is not possible, so I have to scroll through all of the students and I need to cross-reference with section enrollment.

- Feedback entry for multiple students on one screen for an assignment.

- Make the rubric open by default so we don't need to click the rubric every single time for every single student

- Make the rubric fit on one screen so we don't need to scroll for each criterion.

- Automatically advance to the next student when we click "publish"

D2L Lumi vs D2L Lumi Pro

What is the difference between D2L Lumi and D2L Lumi Pro? What is included in each? Are they separate packages or are they one in the same? I am finding the documentation a bit confusing to navigate.

It would be nice if there were an option on content to "Make Public". This could apply to everything in Content, but mostly I would use it for Web Page models. Classes could be designated as containing Public Items and when clicking on a class with Public Items, only those items designated as public would be available.

Highlighting Text in Creator+

Hi! I know you can use HTML to "mark" text and have it be highlighted in a pale yellow, but can we get an option to use text highlighting? It would be great to be able to choose colors and have the contrast checker like there is when you change text color.

Assignment Dropbox

It would be helpful to be able to see which assignments were graded by which user and it would also be great to be able to see some statistics (averages, etc.) for each user who have grading access so that we can ensure that grading is more consistent between users if multiple people are grading the same assignment but different students.

Embedding Checklists in the courses

I am reaching out to our community experts to check if Brightspace has updated its system to enable us to embed checklists within our HTML pages so that learners can see the checklists right on the page instead of clicking links to access them. I understand this function was not available a few months ago. Please let me know if it has been added now.

Explanation of "Feedback Review Window" PIE Status Missing

Hello.

I noticed the "D2L Product Idea Exchange Statuses" page within the Brightspace Community site (https://community.d2l.com/brightspace/kb/articles/1447-d2l-product-idea-exchange-statuses) doesn't include an explanation of the "Feedback Review Window" status. Would someone from D2L please revise this PIE statuses page?
