💡 Bright Ideas Discussion - Creating Assessments in Brightspace

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the Bright Ideas - Creating Assessments in Brightspace! We ran out of time to have our live discussion so lets keep the conversation going here!
👉 Which quiz question types have you experimented with? Which have been most effective?
For example: Multiple-choice, Short answer, Fill-in-the-blank
👉 How have you integrated multimedia elements (videos, images, etc.) into your assessments?
👉 What themes or topics have you found most effective in engaging learners in Discussions? How do you tailor these topics to your course objectives?

Sorry to have missed this session. Please add me to the mailing list.
In answer to question one, I have experimented extensively with all question types and have found them (a) very limiting (where are the hotspot, drag & drop, and matrix question types?), (b) rigid in terms of modifying look & feel, and (c) when it comes to workflow, especially for "Fill in the blanks" items with more than one blank, incredibly difficult to create. This video shows the workflow to create a paragraph with 6 blanks. We also need the option of using dropdown lists instead of only blanks as can be seen here.
Myself and others have posted extensively about these limitations on the PIE.

Re question two, I have used embedded videos, images, and animated GIF's. Media items have appeared both as questions and answers in various question types. In the case of listening activities, I have added audio/video to a "Section" and then followed it with a series of questions relating to the video. Matching questions is another place that it makes sense to use images (especially in language courses) but I don't do it often because limited layout options make for a pretty clunky UX.
Re question three, creating this sort of engagement is a challenge for sure. I don't have any thoughts on topics/themes at the moment, but I think I would be more inclined to use/recommend the use of Discussion Forums more often if the interface felt more welcoming. This post outlines some of the issues.

Hi @Samantha.B.445, the links I posted are on the PIE. For some reason, you need to log into the PIE and the Community separately now. I feel like something has changed re linking between the two. Anyway, to see the linked posts, you need to log into the PIE and visit the following items:
