Microsoft is retiring the classic OneDrive, OneNote Class Notebook, Teams Assignments, and Reflect LTI apps on September 17, 2026. After that date, the classic apps and existing course links created with them will stop working.
If your institution has not yet deployed Microsoft 365 LTI, now is the time to act—ideally before instructors begin preparing courses for the new school year.
We’ve published a new Brightspace Community article that covers:
- What is retiring and when
- Why Microsoft 365 LTI should be deployed before the school year
- Recommended transition steps for Brightspace administrators
- What happens to existing Microsoft content after retirement

There is also one important technical detail worth reviewing during deployment: the OneDrive File Picker workflow. Depending on how Microsoft 365 LTI and the related Brightspace configuration are set up, users can see different OneDrive experiences across Attach from OneDrive, Insert Stuff, and Insert Quicklink. D2L recommends completing the Microsoft 365 LTI File Picker placement configuration to provide the most unified experience.

If Microsoft 365 LTI is still on your pre-term checklist, this transition is worth prioritizing now.
