Hello Everyone! I have a question I would greatly appreciate help with.
Our instructors are now getting a "Your Grades will be Overwritten" message when grading their discussions. We have not noticed this message before and in most cases there are no grades that would be overwritten. It has proven now to be a message that freaks our instructors out to the point they have stopped grading student work.
Any thoughts? Suggestions? Resources?
Thanks so much,
Jessica

You can use the Language Management Tool and change what is wrote in the warning message:

AssessTopic:User
jsMarkAllGradedConfirm
Any previously entered grades for this activity will be overwritten. Continue?

Hi Jessica,
Our faculty have reported the same issue when grading discussions associated with a grade item. We reported it to D2L, who provided us with a PRB number: PRB0161548. They didn't provide us with a ETA for a fix.
Here's our workaround: When assessing student posts, click the Save Draft button (rather than Publish). From the Assess Topic screen, bulk publish the students' scores/feedback to the gradebook by clicking Publish All Scores button. This process avoids the 'overwritten' confirmation message.

Thanks Suzanne. We'll share this with our instructors. And thanks to Jonathon as well.
Our instructors have indicated concern as well to the following message now displayed after selecting Publish from the Assess Topic > Topic Score screen in Discussions:
"This will overwrite the feedback that was left for this user in the grades area with the feedback entered here. Are you sure you want to continue?"
As Jonathon indicates, the message above can be changed in the Language Management Tool. Here's the Package/Collection/Term Name for the value above.

We also evaluating a change from the button text from "Overwrite" to "Continue" and the confirmation message to reflect something like:
If you left feedback for this user in the grades area, it will be overwritten with the feedback entered here. Do you want to Continue?
