Hello,

Has anyone worked with an external wiki tool that integrates with Brightspace? We are currently in the process of migrating courses from our previous LMS and we are looking for a wiki tool for a team of teachers who have worked with wikis in that LMS. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Hi Sidsel-Marie. When you say "integrate," do you mean full integration with gradebook and all, or just something that can easily display within Brightspace without leaving the LMS? The reason I ask is that I've used several wikis in the past (not all are still in business) that could easily be embedded in D2L - but fell short of a full integration with single sign-on. My only suggestion is that you ensure that the wiki site is secure with an https:// web address.

As for full integration, there was previously a blogs and wiki product that integrated with Brightspace, but they are no longer listed on the D2L partner directory. It appears that they haven't continued to build the connectors to Brightspace. Maybe. A little more research indicates that the company I'm talking about, Learning Objects, hasn't updated their website very much lately; most likely because they were purchased by Cengage - who is a D2L partner. But still - it's not totally clear, The Learning Objects product that had blogs and wikis was called Campus Pack. Looking at the Cengage website, I don't see anything that looks like the Campus Pack product. My suggestion is to contact Cengage and find out if they still support Campus Pack (Social Assignments included blogs and wikis) from Learning Objects.

We piloted CampusPack (which is now owned by Cengage) for a bit and it integrated beautifully with Brightspace. It has a wiki, a blog, a journal, a podcast, and a portfolio. Great package, really. But...alas, our faculty didn't really give it a good trial to warrant actually adopting it. I was pretty impressed with it, though.
