I have setup a series of groups in the 'groups tool', and have set a group self-enrollment of up to 4 students per group.

I have a couple of students with learning difficulties, and I want to place them in groups on their own. I can add a new group and manually assign them, but until the groups tool is closed, I can't find a way of either limiting the number of students in an individiual group (i.e. if I setup 40 groups with 4 members each, then I go into group X and I can limit it individually to another number of students).

Is there a way we can do this or add this feature? It would greatly improve the accessibility for some students who present with neurodivergence, and can't cope having group members.

As a learner, I am NOT able to recreate this same example in my submission. This is because learners CANNOT insert images or audio files into a page in the same ways as an instructor can (see images below).

Is this something that can be turned on on at the level of this institution?

If not, I would like to hear a clear and rational explanation for why this is the case. Because the resulting workflow is disorganized, cumbersome, and confusing for students to submit and unnecessarily problematic for instructors to grade.

* I find this last "Student View" interface one of the most problematic. In this day and age, why should a student need to enter a URL in order to embed (not attach) a picture in their assignment?!

I am in the middle of the semester and found numerous programming errors on my end, I'd like to fix it, but I am afriad my students are getting an email every time I change something. Is this the case? Or is it only if I change certain things?

If I mae the module invisible, does that keep this from happening?

I don't want to drive them crazy.

I have a word document that contains some links and when I upload it to Brightspace, it gets converted into a PDF file. When looking at the document as a PDF, some of the links the document contains work and some don't… I looked at how the links are setup in Word and can't find any differences or reason why one work and the others don't.

Any thoughts?

I have a quick question regarding assignment creation in Brightspace. When I add and save a new assignment in a course, is there a way for students enrolled in that course to automatically receive a notification—either through email, or in-platform alerts—without me having to create a separate announcement?

I want to make sure students are immediately informed once an assignment is posted, so they don’t miss any requirements or deadlines. If automatic notifications are possible, could you let me know how to enable or configure that setting?

But when I select Course Components, it seems like it tries to export/import all of the components of the course, not the ones just associated with the single quiz I am trying to export/import.

This does not seem like a good way to do things.

However, for Assignments this seems not to be the case as I set up a condtion based on a Grade Item score and the View Reports showed that the Assignment (Quicklink in the View Reports screen) was available to all students. But if I tst this with a student role, this is not the case and the Release Condition work fine by shielding the item until the condition is met.

So is it a bug that for folders the View Reports screen shows the correct number of students that can view it at that time based on the Release Conditions, but that this same principle does not work for Quicklinks (Links to tools like Assignments, Discussion, Quiz, etc.)

I tried editing the settings in the Word document to set the target to a new page, but those edits aren't retained when copied from Word into D2L Page. I know that he can edit the links individually within the HTML Editor for the Page, but I was hoping for a way to set that as a default so that the faculty member doesn't have to go in and edit each link individually every time that he does this.

Does anyone understand why the EDIT button - arguably a button/menu item that is in extremely common use - is not visible on each content page?

We at Michener are exploring the OneDrive LTI as a way of reducing/eliminating the need for students to request permission to view videos in SharePoint where the link is in our BrightSpace instance.

Our IT team is confused by Microsoft's documentation:

We can't identify the correct level/kind of permissions to assign in our IT backend. The terminology in the article doesn't match what our IT team see in their list of permissions. If you're using OneDrive LTI in BrightSpace - how did you set it up? We'd love to hear from you!

Having experienced a recent issue in my Brightspace classroom, I figured I should mention it here to see if there is a solution somewhere in the platform.

When an instructor in Brightspace creates an assignment for a group, there is no way for a student who is not registered in a group to see if that assignment exists. The assignment does not appear in the Calendar or as a blocked page in the Assignments tab. This is impactful because in the case of group projects that allow for solo work, it requires students to sign up for groups immediately to view any changes to assignments.

Is there any way to change this behaviour such that group assignments are visible but not submittable to all students in a class? Thank you!
