Find your Brightspace username
Your organization sends you an email containing your username for accessing Brightspace. The subject line of the email varies by organization, for example, <school name>: Enrollment Confirmation. If you did not receive an email with this information, contact your organization.
In addition to your username, the email contains a link to set up a password and a link to log in to Brightspace.
Tips:
- The email address you should check is the same email address that your organization account is associated with. For example, the email address may have the school name or acronym after the "@" sign.
- The subject line of the email varies by organization. For example, the subject line might be: <school name>: Enrollment Confirmation.
- Passwords must be between 8 and 50 characters. For enhanced security, D2L recommends including lowercase and uppercase alphabetic characters, numbers, and symbols.
- To easily access Brightspace in the future, D2L recommends bookmarking the log in page in your favorite browser.
Set up your password
New Brightspace users receive an email that includes a link to a page with on-screen instructions on how to set up your password for the first time.
To setup your password
- In the email you received, click the Reset your password link.
- In the Choose a New Password dialog, enter your Brightspace Username.

- In the Re-Enter Password field, enter your new password.
- To review password requirements, click the Password requirements link.
- Click Submit.
- Once your password is set successfully, click Go to login page to access Brightspace for he first time.

You have set up your password in Brightspace.
Log in to Brightspace
If this is your first time accessing Brightspace, you may not be enrolled yet. For example, instructors may need to wait until the start of the school term or semester to log in. If the term or semester start date has passed and you are still unable to log in, contact your Administrator for assistance.
To log in to Brightspace
- From a supported browser, browse to the URL provided by your organization.
- Enter your Username and Password.
- Click Log In.
Note:
- If you receive a message that your account has been locked, you have unsuccessfully attempted to log in to Brightspace six times. Try logging in again in 15-30 minutes.
- If your organization has more than one active locale option available, you may be able to select a different language for your login page. To change your language setting, click on the language that appears on the page and then, select your preferred language.
To log out of Brightspace
- On the minibar, click your username.
- Click Log Out.
Recover your password
You can also reset or recover your password if you forget it.
To recover your password
- Navigate to Brightspace.
- On the login page, click Forgot your password?.
- Type in your username or email address. A password reset email is sent to the email address associated with the entered username or email address.
- Access the password reset email.
Note: Search through your email spam or junk folders if you do not receive the email in your main email Inbox. - In the received password reset email, click Reset your password.
- In the New Password field, enter a new password.
- In the Re-Enter Password field, enter your new password.
- Click Submit.
- Once your password is set successfully, click Go to login page.
- Enter your Username and Password, and click Login.
You have recovered your password.
