In April 2018, with the release of version 10.8.0, D2L will be catching up on our obsolete and deprecated API contracts. To ensure a smooth transition for your API apps, we wanted to familiarize you with the scope of what this means to our dev community.  

In April, you can expect: 

• All API contracts introduced before 10.6.0 (10.5.x and older) are now obsolete 
• All API contracts introduced with 10.6.x are now deprecated 
• All API contacts introduced with 10.7.0 and forward are fully supported 

*Obsolete – Classified as out of support. D2L may support these, but with minimal priority

As a developer, there is no need to worry about customers being on a release platform that doesn't support the contracts introduced in 10.7.x. With continuous delivery updating Brightspace every month, most customers are on the most recent version. So to help prepare for this change/stay current, we recommend updating your code to use contracts introduced in 10.7.0. or later. Alongside stable version control, we will continue supporting today legacy APIs.

It provides deep dive into AccessTracker – a tool created by the University of Guelph that integrates with Brightspace and uses Brightspace APIs. Enjoy!

I wanted to highlight a new addition to our developer platform: a sample app on GitHub that shows you how to authenticate using OAuth and App Id-Key Auth, LTI CIM, and some Brightspace APIs.
