In the Brightspace 20.21.01 release, the following fix was implemented -- [Archived Content] https://community.brightspace.com/s/article/01380736

This fix was applied because of a permission issue that was identified. If you are experiencing 403 responses when calling this API route (POST Enrollment), make sure to read the provided article. Fixing this issue is achieved through applying the proper permissions for the API calling user's role.

Restrict GET user search results to specific role

We have a requirement where we want to create a service account that only has the ability to query users with a specific role. I thought we may be able to use the GET /d2l/api/lp/(version)/users/ call in combination with the Users -> Search for '[Role]' permission.

What I have found so far is that whilst the permission restricts the search results through the front end application, the service account can use the GET /d2l/api/lp/(version)/users/ to return a broader result set - i.e. users with roles where this permission has not been set.

Hope this makes sense, any advice/guidance would be appreciated.

I know that times have been insane and life has drastically changed!

I am a student and my school uses brightspace for their online platform. Upon visiting the company website I have seen that you have included a significant amount of information on assistive tech for those with hearing and vision loss however I am unable to find information on how you're addressing those with learning disabilities. I was wondering if in future your designers would be willing to consult a specialist for learning disabilities in an attempt to make the layout much more friendly to those of us with ADHD and ASD. 

As our profs are stressed with this change, our class pages look largely the same and information is getting missed and forgotten by students. I am finding that since our profs do not have the time or energy to make the layout of the website aesthetically pristine, they too would benefit from a more simple, easy-to-navigate layout in terms of tabs and modules. I appreciate your understanding and I hope this reaches you in good health!

As many of you may know already, Chrome version 80 will be making changes to the way in which cookies are managed. The change is to alter the default behavior of the Same-Site Cookie setting. Previously, the default value was "None", meaning that there were no Same-Site changes being applied to the Cookie behavior. The new default will be "Lax", which changes how Cookies can be exchanged between different sites. This change affects any website that utilizes Cookies and was not explicitly setting a value for Same-Site on their Cookies, including Brightspace. This will require all 3rd party cookies to explicitly specify that they should be included in a cross-site context. 

These changes have an impact on both the LMS itself, and the tools that integrate with it. While work is being done on our side to account for these changes, changes may need to happen on the integration tool's to ensure they are handling their cookies appropriately.
