Recently, D2L has been focused on improving the platform in ways that improve instructor workflows. Both the Assignment creation and evaluation experiences have been released and we are now setting our sights on Quizzes and Discussions. In our analysis of the quiz creation experience, we’ve identified the following areas that could be simplified right away.
What’s Changing
- The Reports Setup tab will be moved from the quiz creation screen to a new context menu on the quiz list page called, "Setup Reports".
- The Introduction field will be retired and will no longer be available when editing a quiz. Existing Introduction field data will be automatically migrated to the Description field when editing a quiz.
Reports Setup Moved to Context Menu
As part of our long-term effort to improve Quiz Reports, the Reports Setup tab will move from the quiz creation screen to the quiz list page.
Also, the current "Reports" context menu item will be renamed for clarity to, "View Reports".

Retiring the Introduction Field
To remove redundancy from Quizzes, the Introduction field will retire and will no longer be available on the create and edit pages.
Existing Quizzes and Introduction Field
The Introduction field will gradually phase out and its data transitioned to the Description field during. When modifying a previous quiz with Introduction data, users will receive a prompt that this field is no longer available, and that the information has been appended to the Description field. Users will have a chance to review the modified Description field prior to saving their quiz. If the user cancels out of the edit, the Introduction field will remain intact and the quiz unaltered.
Please note that only the content of the Introduction field is migrated to the Description field. The Description visibility (On / Off toggle) is not altered and should be reviewed prior to saving.

Importing Course Packages
When a course package is imported, any Introduction field data will automatically be routed to the Description field. If the Description field contains existing data, the Introduction field will be appended to the existing Description data with a line break.
Classic Content Page
When viewing a quiz in the classic Content experience, the Instructions area will now render the Description field content of a quiz. Previously, the Introduction field data was displayed here and the Description was shown in the Activity Details tab.
