The recent update appears to have removed this functionality, resulting in a significant decrease in the efficiency and usability of the gradebook. In my courses, students typically complete approximately 80 assignments per semester. As a result, quickly locating specific grade items is essential for effective course management. Without the ability to use the browser's native search function, navigating the gradebook has become considerably more time-consuming for both instructors and students.

Additionally, the introduction of the new arrow-based navigation system has slowed the process of moving through grade items and locating specific assignments. What was previously a quick and intuitive task now requires substantially more time and effort.

Ease of navigation is a critical component of the user experience, and the current implementation negatively impacts day-to-day workflow. If this issue cannot be addressed, I will need to evaluate alternative learning management systems, including Google Classroom, that better support efficient grade management.

Have checked the template multiple times and as far as I can see, the format of the file we are using is identical.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? How was it resolved.

How do I remove the assignment

When using one of our content types (Cornell Notes https://h5p.org/cornell-notes), users are expected to copy text into their Clipboard, however, when doing so inside Brightspace, we're getting blocked from accessing the Clipboard.

Is this something that could be allowed on your end?

Here's what we see in the console:

Turns out it created new users even if the user already existed, duplicating 40 users! This created a bit of a mess as some people logged in with their old credentials, some with the newly created ones, and I had to make sure whichever account they were using had the right access. I was quite frustrated as I only did this because the description said it wouldn't duplicate users.

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this or if I did something wrong, but I wanted to put it out there as an issue.

However this is not my experience in the Assignment tool when viewing submissions. When I attempt to view the submissions for an assignment by user (e.g., from the dropdown in next to the assignment listing), I see only "There are no users for the search" until I select the Filter by: Sections dropdown and enable one or more of the sections and then click Apply. I did not have to do anything like that to see submissions by user prior to the new filtering.

(I have not touched the search options: the search box is empty; if I show the options, submissions and feedback are set to "Show everyone".)

Clicking "Submissions" instead of the default "Users" does show all submissions, but this listing doesn't include information as to whether feedback is published or read. This view also doesn't include the new filtering option.

I believe this behavior is a bug; it is contrary to the description in the release notes. It is also somewhat alarming until you figure out that all your students' work hasn't somehow been erased…

I am studying with the national payroll institute of Canada who uses brightspace and I recently was stuck in a shady automotive repairs shop for half a day. While they played around inside the guts of my car, I was prepared enough to have my access credentials to continue my learning objectives while I waited. However, I noticed the public access point was being quite unpredictable with its loading behaviours on all the resources surrounding brightspace and the external links to outside resources were experiencing similar difficulties.

Could you explain or point me in the direction of data security policies and how to protect the IP from being accessed maliciously? I might have an apple to trade for the efforts.

Context:

• Single D2L course contains 11 units. Each unit is “complete” when the learner finishes the unit’s survey AND the unit quiz(s) with a passing score (>=70%).
• We want automated emails sent to instructors when a learner has completed ANY 5, 10, 15 units (order doesn’t matter).
• Currently we use Awards to manually count how many learners have completed 5/10/15 units. Intelligent Agents would be ideal to send emails, but the Release Conditions in Intelligent Agents do not include “Completed any N quizzes/surveys/awards.”
• Surveys cannot be placed in the gradebook, so gradebook-based triggers aren’t viable.

What I’ve considered:

• Intelligent Agents can’t check “any N activities completed” as a release condition.
• Surveys aren’t grade items.
• Quizzes need to enforce >=70% as part of the unit completion rule.
• We don’t need a specific sequence. We just need a count of completed units.

Questions:

1. Has anyone used Checklists / Competencies / Standards (or Learning Objectives) to represent each unit and then used those as the basis for counting “units completed”? Can Competencies be used in Intelligent Agents’ release conditions (or otherwise polled) to trigger an agent when a learner reaches any N competencies?
2. Any examples of mapping quizzes/surveys to a competency or checklist item, and having that competency marked complete only when both quiz (>=70%) and survey are done?
3. Alternatives: Has anyone used Class Progress, Completion Tracking, or Custom Progress tools + Intelligent Agents to do this? Can Class Progress be used as a trigger for an Intelligent Agent (e.g., “progress >= X topics completed”)?
4. Integrations / automation: Anyone automate milestone emails outside Intelligent Agents that monitors D2L activity and sends emails when learners hit thresholds?
5. Any other recommended approach that reliably counts “any N units completed” and can send automated notifications?

If you have step-by-step config notes, screenshots, or sample release-condition logic/scripts you can share, that would be extremely helpful. Thanks in advance!

Follow-Up Issue:
We’re now noticing similar behavior with some quizzes:

• The quizzes are auto-graded and published to the gradebook.
• Some quizzes randomly display an “overdue” notice for students who completed attempts well in advance.
• Other quizzes show the correct behavior and simply display the due date.

Has anyone else run into this?
If so, did you identify what caused it or find a workaround? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
